Soft Summer

Soft Summer is my Favorite Season!
Why  is that? Because I am Soft Summer myself and I'm loving  Soft Summer Color Palette
it's  Elegant and Feminine.

I believe in nature everything is balanced. Thats why Soft, muted coloring of Soft Summer looks really good on me. I believe my personality has some reflections of that as well.

So, as we've learned from Seasonal Color Analysis Theory:

 Soft Summer=  Soft+ Cool

Hair:Ash Blonde, medium brown, mousy grey.
Skintone: Ivory, Beige.

Soft Summer wears blended colors very well.
Often Soft Summer can be  mistaken with Soft Autumn because these two Seasons are Sister Seasons, where Soft Summer is Cool and Soft Autumn is Warm.

Rule To Remember:

Make sure to use soft , muted and difficult colors

nothing too bright.

Level of contrast : Medium to Low.

  1. It's funny how I never knew what colour type I was (I am soft summer too, I guess, it's sort of a typical Russian kinda girl :) ) and yet intuitively picked all the right colours. :) Was an interesting read, though. Thanks very much! x

  3. Hi Yelena!
I am still a bit confused. I had a color analysis recently and I was told to be a summer. I did some research afterwards and realised there are 12 types. Anyway I think I am a soft summer, but I am not certain. I have very pale skin, with a pink undertone. My hair is ashy lightbrown at the roots but golden at the ends. My eyes are brown, not hazel but really brown. This confuses me the most, because soft summertypes never are portrayed as having brown eyes... Could you clear my confusion and tell me what I could be?
    Thank you so much!

  4. Hello Anja,
Please Email me your pictures. I need pictures of your face in natural lighting, without makeup and hair in ponytail. Then I can give you my opinion on what is your season.

    Best Regards,
    Yelena

  9. Dear Yelena,
I love your soft summer section. I've felt very boring and plain until seeing your article. What a beautiful display. I'm curious regarding jewely choices: Are silver and white gold the best choices?

  11. Dear Yelena,
I decided to look into my colors again after seeing photos of me wearing brown - I look unhealthy and consistently terrible in picture after picture. I bought 'Color Me Beautiful' when I was in college. Because I have brown hair, hazel eyes and freckles, I assumed I was an autumn. But I often get compliments and look healthier and prettier when I wear light pink, blue and rose/magenta. So then I assumed I was a winter even though I look awful with black near my face. What a revelation to find out I am a brunette summer!! My hair is more ash, and I have a definite delicate blue/pink undertone in my light skin, despite my freckles. I pulled out all of the summer color clothes in my closet, and they look fantastic on me!! Thank you for this wonderful stylish blog, and for saving me lots of money and guesswork in the future.

  13. Hi I'm African American and I finally realized I'm a soft summer even though most of the descriptions about light eyes and skin don't suit me at all. I have brown hair, skin (with some olive undertones), and eyes and there's not much contrast between them. Whenever I've tried to wear some autumn (warm) shades before and they look absolutely horrid on me. So I've mostly stuck with cooler colors but I always knew black, very dark purples and dark navies were too harsh for me.

The only colors that usually worked for me were greens. But whenever I've bought heather blues they made me look amazing. & I always have avoided gray because ones that were too warm also looked terrible but I have a charcoal colored t-shirt that makes me look great. I never knew why this was until I learned about the soft summer palette. I look forward to updating my wardrobe and incorporating more pinks and grays into because it's non-existent in it right now. Most colors are too harsh for me and make me look sallow, and I thought it was because my skin and hair were so dull and boring. I'm excited to look more alive and embrace my coloring.

  16. I am also an African-American woman who recently discovered she was a soft-summer. I am fair-skinned with light brown hair and bright grey-green eyes. I always liked the colors of the soft summer palette but considered them to be for people who were not African-American. As a result, my current wardrobe is filled with many bright patterns and colors. I'm in my late 30s and have noticed my face just looks dull and gets lost in my colorful clothing. I figured I'm just getting older and needed to revamp my wardrobe. I decided to start with a color analysis. Once I learned I was a soft summer, I went into my closet and tried the few clothes I do have that matched this color palette. Wow, what a difference!!! My eyes and face just came alive in these beautiful soft-summer colors. And I thought the dullness was just because of age. Since I've never worn any of these colors regularly, I'm not sure how to wear them. Your site has been a great place to start and has given me great ideas. I look forward to creating my new wardrobe!!! Thanks!!! BTW, my mother has always told me I look great in pastels. Mothers always know best!

  17. Thank you sweets!) It is so important to find your palette. And I'm really happy that you figure this out for yourself.
    That's why I am trying to help everyone who is curious because once you started to learn about colors and your not sure what season are you that is so frustrating. But professional can easily help and fix this problem(;

  18. Hi Yelena! I am a mixed woman (east indian, black and white) and although I have jet black hair, very dark yet cool brown eyes, and neutral caramel skin; I am not a winter. Vivid colours (like those of the winter palette) are too strong for me. Although I thought that black looked great on me, it still was too strong and charcoal suit me far better. I was also told that I was a soft summer deep. I had never considered that a possibility as before I was convinced that I must be a winter because of my cool skintone, dark hair and eyes! I also decided to try out the soft summer colours such as baby pink, lavender, etc; and what a difference! It was like I was a whole new woman. :)
